Job summary

A.I.R Recruitment is seeking a Spare Parts Manager for a newly created role in Sydney. You will oversee inventory control, procurement, and a small team, ensuring timely supply of parts and efficient operations across the business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on parts experience, supervisory background, and strong negotiation and inventory management skills, with the ability to travel interstate as required. A competitive package is on offer including a car allowance and annual bonus potential.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years hands-on experience in a parts department or automotive/industrial environment.
• Prior supervisory background.
• Ability to travel interstate to branches as required.
• Driver's licence.
• Experience managing department budgets, pricing and margins.
• Strong understanding of mechanical components, equipment specs, and digital inventory systems.
• Clear verbal and written skills for vendor negotiations and cross-departmental coordination.
• Ability to manage supply chain delays and handle customer service issues promptly.
• Knowledge of freight, customs, demand forecasting, and vendor performance.
• Adaptable to change and drive continuous improvement in processes.

Responsibilities

Our client is a leader in their industry providing mechanical and industrial hardware solutions to retail, industrial, manufacturing and engineering industries across Australia. Due to growth, we are seeking a Spare Parts Manager to join their team in this newly created role.

The role

Inventory Control

• Track stock levels across all parts categories to ensure accurate, real-time inventory visibility.
• Perform routine physical counts and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyse sales data to forecast demand, ensuring fast-moving parts are stocked whilst minimising slow moving/obsolete inventory and implement strategies to prevent part obsolescence.
• Work closely with service and repair teams to supply needed parts quickly and accurately with minimal downtime.

Ordering and Procurement

• Source OEM and aftermarket parts from qualified suppliers to meet quality and cost requirements.
• Manage relationships with preferred vendors and evaluate new suppliers as needed.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to control costs and maintain supply reliability.

Team Leadership

• Hire, train, and supervise department staff, including counter sales and warehouse workers.
• Set performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and support ongoing staff development.
• Foster a safe, organized, and productive parts department work environment.

Financial Oversight

• Manage the department sales performance, P&L and budgets, including procurement, performance and staffing costs.
• Track profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins, competitive pricing and reduce waste.

Sales Planning

• Develop short, medium and long-term sales strategies, promotional campaigns, and business development initiatives to capture a larger market share.
• Nurture key accounts, commercial clients, and dealer networks to drive repeat business and resolve complex client inquiries.
• Maintain CFM, customer data and contractual requirements.

What we're looking for

• 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a parts department or automotive/industrial environment, plus prior supervisory background.
• Ability to travel interstate to Branches as required
• Drivers licence
• Previous experience managing department budgets, pricing, and margins with a solid grasp of inventory valuation methods.
• Strong understanding of mechanical components, equipment specs, and digital inventory systems.
• Clear verbal and written skills for vendor negotiations and cross-departmental coordination.
• Ability to manage supply chain delays and handle customer service issues promptly.
• Strong knowledge of freight, customs, demand forecasting, and vendor performance to keep parts flowing reliably.
