About the Team & the Position

The Digital Division enables the delivery of AEMOs obligations through technology and improves outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders. Digital provides services to internal AEMO business units employees contractors subsidiaries such as AEMO Services external government bodies and market participants.

The Strategy Architecture & Emerging Technologies within the Digital Division is responsible for the development and evolution of the architecture plans for Business, Cyber Security, Data, Application and Technology to guide the development of systems and platforms and support AEMOs strategic imperatives.

The role focuses primarily on data mapping requirements around business data initiatives. This includes documenting the associated data models and catalogue and assisting in leveraging technology to enable AEMO to better utilise data and information.

Position Responsibilities
  • Document current state technical architecture and system landscape ensuring future state architecture is considered and acted upon when required.
  • Highlight and effectively manage the architectural impacts including assessments, dependencies, tools, technical requirements, issues and risks (with key reference to data and processes) of business problems.
  • Provide strategic Architectural guidance to projects and BAU as required.
  • Determine high level technical solutions that fit AEMO current and future strategic goals.
  • Develop the system analysis end to end for application components.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business both internal and external.
  • Assist in the establishment of an AEMO enterprise data catalogue and information domains.
  • Establish Technical Foundation for Enterprise Information Management initiatives by working with a chosen vendor to deliver the appropriate data platforms including staging and reporting areas.
  • Assist various internal teams by creating Solution Architectures for upcoming Retail projects.
  • Assist in the completion of the Market System Roadmaps.
Position Requirements
  • Proven experience working directly with business owners on defining and mapping data requirements and relationships to deliver a solution architecture for the owner.
  • Strong experience working with vendors to ensure the delivery against the solution architecture meets the outcomes of the business owner.
  • Demonstrable experience in the Australian Energy/Utility industry (preferred).
  • Extensive experience at the Architect level in Strategic Solutions architecture.
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge across current and future technologies. Adept in evaluation and integration of new technologies into existing experience in the development and/or delivery of software-based engineering solutions.
  • Strong numerical analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to document findings; ability to translate complex technical details into everyday language.

Education / Professional Certifications
  • Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies TOGAF or other architecture methodologies is desirable.
