Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Sydney seeks a Solicitor to join the Band 1 Real Estate team. The role involves working with leading Partners on a broad range of Australian and international real estate matters, from acquisitions to developments and joint ventures.

You will be part of a collaborative, market-leading practice with opportunities to contribute to large, complex transactions and to develop expertise in a dynamic, global firm. 

Qualifications

• Australian or New Zealand practising certificate.
• 2–4 years of post-admission experience in real estate practice.
• Experience in transactional real estate across development, investment, JVs, acquisitions and disposals.
• Excellent academic record and ability to apply legal knowledge commercially.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage large-scale transactions.
• Proactive, collaborative team member.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Band 1 Real Estate team in Sydney.

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with industry-leading Partners Julie Couch, Andrew Leadston and Stuart Robertson, working in a team of talented, friendly and collaborative professionals.

The team acts for a broad range of major Australian and international clients, including institutional investors, leading developers, real estate funds, major corporates, and State and Federal government agencies. The work spans the full real estate lifecycle, including large-scale acquisitions, disposals and developments (across all asset types), urban renewal / over station projects, property joint ventures and platform arrangements, major leasing portfolios and infrastructure related real estate projects, including energy transition.

You will also have the opportunity to work with other partners and lawyers across the network.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• An Australian or New Zealand practising certificate;
• 2-4 years of post-admission experience;
• Demonstrable experience in transactional real estate across real estate development, investment, joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals;
• An excellent academic record, with an ability to apply that technical legal knowledge in a commercial environment;
• First-class attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to comprehend intricate legal matters and manage large-scale transactions;
• A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team;
• A hunger to learn and develop and be part of maintaining a market-leading practice; and
• An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
