Hicksons| Hunt & Hunt is a commercial law firm with offices across NSW, offering expert advice to government, corporations and individuals. The Health team handles personal injury, public liability and sensitive claims, serving insurers, hospitals and practitioners with a client-focused approach.

We seek a lawyer with at least 3 years PQE, strong NSW civil procedure knowledge, and the ability to manage large volumes of documents while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years PQE in health or personal injury matters
• Experience in defendant case matters is highly desirable
• Portfolio management of claims is a plus
• Ability to handle large volumes of documents and meet deadlines
• Strong NSW civil procedure knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to contribute to business development

Responsibilities

• Represent government agencies and insurer providers in NSW on a broad range of matters
• Provide legal advice on personal injury, public liability and sensitive claims

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Our Health team represents government agencies and insurer providers and facilities in NSW, offering legal advice on a broad range of matters, from straightforward to highly contentious, including personal injury claims, nervous shock claims, actions against healthcare practitioners, public liability, and historical abuse claims in an institutional setting.

Our clients include insurers, public and private hospitals, medical practitioners, and other NSW government agencies.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years PQE as well as:

• Experience in or exposure to personal injuries claims work, public liability and/or sensitive claims
• Providing legal advice on defendant case matters is highly desirable
• Previous experience of managing and/or assisting a portfolio of claims
• Ability to handle large volumes of documents, providing clear advice within deadlines and understand how to manage competing priorities
• Demonstrated experience with New South Wales civil procedure
• Ability to thoroughly and sensitively review evidence in relation to liability and quantum issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Desire to grow and develop with our team to create great results
• An ability to build effective working relationships with clients
• Willingness to participate and enhance your business development skills

In this role, you may be exposed to sensitive and delicate content. Mental and emotional agility will be essential in being successful in this position. You will be provided with Vicarious Trauma training, tools and resources to support your development in this area.
