About the role :

You ll collaborate with multiple teams and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders across the branch gaining exposure to regulatory advice l itigation corporate legal affairs Freedom of Information (FOI) and summary prosecution work. The role offers variety flexibility and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic public sector environment.

In this role you will :
  • Assist with legal advice on regulatory activity permissions and notices.
  • Support litigation in VCAT and courts including preparing briefs and attending hearings.
  • Contribute to corporate legal matters such as contracts privacy and FOI.
  • Represent EPA in summary prosecutions and assist with witness statements.
  • Work across multiple legal streams and teams adapting to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote EPAs role and legal responsibilities.
Skills and experience :
  • Experience in regulatory administrative or government legal practice is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and related legislation or the ability to quickly gain familiarity.
  • Understanding of legal procedures in criminal and civil litigation particularly within a regulatory context.
  • Strong legal research analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn take initiative and support EPAs strategic goals.
