Job summary

NCS Australia is seeking a skilled Rust developer to design, build, and maintain high-quality applications and services. The role emphasizes API/back-end work, Linux-based deployments, and robust testing within an Agile team.

You will contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Docker-based deployments, and performance optimisations, while collaborating across product and engineering teams. A strong focus on secure coding and modern integration patterns is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Commercial experience developing software in Rust.
• Experience building APIs, backend services, and distributed applications.
• Experience working with Linux operating systems and open-source technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automation practices.
• Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker.
• Understanding of software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and modern software integration patterns.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated testing and contribute to improving software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and platform issues across development, test, and production environments.
• Support Linux-based platforms and assist with software deployment, configuration, and maintenance activities.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to improve development efficiency and reliability.
• Assist with performance optimisation activities, including improving application responsiveness, resource utilisation, and system scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and adopt software engineering best practices, including secure development and Agile methodologies.
• Work with containerisation technologies such as Docker to support application deployment and operations.
• Support software patching, upgrades, and dependency management to ensure platform stability and security.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
