Job summary

Sinch Melbourne is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Messaging team. You will design, develop and maintain cloud-native Java applications, focusing on scalable, well-documented code and automated testing.

You’ll contribute across the stack, participate in agile ceremonies, and collaborate with Product and QA to ensure high-quality delivery. You will build APIs, work with AWS cloud infrastructure, and help operate the SDLC from planning to incident response.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer
• Exposure to Agile delivery in a team setting.
• Experience building or consuming APIs
• Foundational proficiency in Java, Spring and ReactJS or similar stack
• Understanding of RESTful API concepts and cloud-based systems
• Knowledge of version control, CI/CD and automated testing practices
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms

Responsibilities

• Write clean, well-tested code for features and fixes across the stack.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and deliver incremental improvements.
• Write and maintain automated tests and verify behavior before release.
• Work with AWS and cloud infrastructure.
• Engage in code reviews and pairing sessions.
• Collaborate with Product and QA to clarify requirements before implementation.
• Respond to production incidents and follow through on remediation.
• Monitor deployments and manage rollback or fixes as needed.
• Document features and components for maintainability.
• Leverage AI coding assistants thoughtfully while retaining ownership of code.
