Job summary

Thales is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop and integrate complex software for air traffic management systems from the Melbourne office. You will contribute to architecture, support requirements, testing and verification, and work within Agile/DevSecOps practices.

The role requires a degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science, commercial Java experience, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. Hybrid/On-site options may apply in Melbourne.

Qualifications

• As a Software Engineer, design, develop and integrate complex software solutions.
• Experience with Java and full software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery methodologies.
• Experience with version control and build/CI tools (Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Gradle).

Working from our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land, your role purpose will be* Designing, developing and integrating software solutions* Contributing to software architecture, design and technical decision-making* Supporting requirements development, implementation, testing and verification activities* Applying Agile and DevSecOps engineering practices* Collaborating with software, systems and test engineers to deliver customer-focused outcomes* Continuously improving engineering processes, tools and ways of working. **Your Experience**On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:* Degree qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline* Commercial experience developing software applications using Java* Experience across the full software development lifecycle* Strong understanding of software design, development, testing and integration practices* Experience with tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Gradle, Jira and Eclipse* Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe* Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. **Australian Defence & Security Clearance**A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
