Amazon, a global cloud leader, is seeking experienced Software Development Engineers to join Region Services in Australia. You will help design, build, and operate AWS services across Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and productivity apps, with a focus on secure cloud offerings and scalable architectures.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical direction, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to resolve high-severity issues. Australian govt clearance is required or attainable.

• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Description

AWS Region Services AWS Intelligence Initiative provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of Region Services, you will support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Our Region Services team redefines the way AWS designs, builds, and operates AWS regions to enable new AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Services offerings to customers across every industry and of every size, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector organizations. We are actively seeking experienced Software Development Engineers with a strong background in system design.

Must hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www1.defence.gov.au/security/clearances).

Region Services provides the highest caliber Operational Solutions and Cleared Support for services within our Regions. We provide 'hands on keyboard' support to our service teams by deploying changes into these isolated regions, monitoring the results, and reporting any issues that are observed.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
