Job summary

Macquarie Bank Limited’s Equity Quantitative Research team seeks a Software Developer to own end-to-end development across our Global Quant research platform. You’ll work primarily in C# and Python, partnering with Quant Analysts to turn research ideas into robust, production-grade models and tools.

You will develop and maintain the team’s Python and C# research platform, databases and systems for quantitative equity analysis, build data pipelines and web services, and apply ML/AI techniques to

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' software engineering experience.
• Exceptional analytical skills and an excellent grasp of data structures and software design.
• Strong object‑oriented design experience in C# and/or Python.
• Experience with web services, containerised deployment and AWS cloud‑based systems.
• Experience with development tools such as Git, Jira and TeamCity.
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.

Software Developer | Quantitative Research

Macquarie’s Equity Quantitative Research team works closely with domestic and international fund managers producing thought-leading research and providing a range of bespoke services.

What role will you play?

As a Software Developer, you will have end-to-end responsibility across our Global Quant research platform, working primarily in C# and Python. You'll partner directly with Quant Analysts to turn research ideas into robust, production-grade models and tools - an excellent opportunity for a developer who wants to apply strong coding skills and a commercial mindset directly to real business problems.

You will develop and maintain the team's Python and C# research platform, databases and systems for quantitative equity analysis (e.g. multi-factor models, statistical trading strategies, risk models, portfolio optimisation). You will also build and maintain web services, data ingestion pipelines and vendor feed integrations, work directly with Quant Analysts to productionise research projects and enhance research tooling and apply modern ML/AI techniques and tools to build innovative products and automate workflows. You will get the opportunity to support client queries and contribute to bespoke research projects and support the production of equity research reports and presentations.

The role is technically diverse and fast-paced. You'll bring initiative, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn, working in a dynamic front‑office setting alongside the quant team and interacting with traders and institutional clients.
