Job summary

Position Details

School Social Worker

St Pius X Catholic Primary School is a vibrant, welcoming, single-stream co-educational school catering for children from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. We are seeking a compassionate and highly relational School Social Worker to join our dedicated team. Selection Criteria

Commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos and mission of St Pius X.

• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students, families and staff.

Experience delivering evidence-based counselling and wellbeing support for children and small groups.

• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and contemporary wellbeing approaches. Experience with Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), URSTRONG and Kimochis will be highly regarded.


• Capacity to work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for students.


• Ability to promote resilience, emotional regulation, positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging.


• Understanding of child safeguarding responsibilities and compliance with CEWA policies and the CEWA Child Safe Framework.


• Experience developing wellbeing resources and strengthening school-home partnerships.

Qualifications Required

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related field.


• Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).


• Accreditation to work in a Catholic school, or willingness to work towards accreditation.
