Job summary

The Tasmanian Government seeks a DECYP School Social Worker to join North West teams, providing evidence-based wellbeing, mental health, relationships and restorative justice services in schools.

You will work within a multidisciplinary Student Wellbeing and Support Team, collaborating with school psychologists, speech pathologists and health nurses, to boost student engagement and achievement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification/program accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment.
• Driver’s licence is desirable.
• Full member of AASW or eligible for membership is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Be part of an innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary student support service.
• Provide services including personal safety and wellbeing, mental health, relationships, conflict resolution and restorative justice.
• Contribute to building the capacity of school communities to improve students’ access, participation, and achievement.

DECYP school social workers provide critical evidence-based services to our students, teachers, and families to optimise wellbeing, engagement, and academic success.

The Team

You will be welcomed into a highly supportive, team-based environment. As a member of your schools’ multidisciplinary Student Wellbeing and Support Team you will work with school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, school health nurses and teaching staff. Your regional and statewide school social work teams stay connected via regular online and face to face meetings.

We are looking for

Essential

• Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment

Desirable

• A current driver's licence.
• A full member of AASW or is eligible for membership with the AASW.
