Good Day PR in Canberra is seeking an Events & Social Media Manager for a full-time 12-month contract. You will manage client accounts, plan social content, write captions, create content calendars, film and edit Reels, and assist with events from concept to delivery.
The role suits someone early in their career who can write well, spot what works visually, communicate confidently with clients, and take initiative to get things done. On-site role with occasional early mornings/evenings.
Full-time | 12-month contract | $70,000–$80,000 incl. super
Good at writing, good with people, good at social media. Good at making things look good and, importantly, good at getting things done.
Good Day is a Canberra-based PR, events and social media agency working across hospitality, property, lifestyle, retail and events. We’re a small team with a lot going on, and we’re looking for an Events & Social Media Manager to join us full-time for at least 12 months, with the opportunity to extend or become permanent.
This role would suit someone at the beginning of their career who wants to actually do the work.
You might be finishing a degree in communications, marketing, PR, events or something similar. You might have a year or two of experience already. We’re not too hung up on that.
What we are hung up on is whether you can write, whether you have a good eye, whether you can communicate confidently with clients and whether you’re the kind of person who sees something that needs doing and does it.

It’s a genuinely varied role. You’ll manage your own client accounts, build relationships with clients and become someone they trust. You’ll plan social content, write captions, create content calendars, film and edit Reels, put together reports and create basic graphics. On the events side, you’ll be involved from the initial concept right through to delivery, helping with everything from creative ideas and suppliers to timelines, logistics, run sheets and event-day management.
Some days you'll be at your desk. Some days you'll be out shooting content. Some days you’ll be on site bringing an event or activation to life. That’s agency life.
You need to be a very good communicator. Written, verbal and visual. A huge part of this role is people. You’ll be working directly with clients, building relationships with them and becoming someone they trust to understand their business, their brand and what they’re trying to achieve. You need to be confident picking up the phone, walking into a meeting, asking the right questions and communicating clearly.
You also need to be able to write, really well. You’ll be writing for very different brands, so being able to understand a tone of voice and adapt your writing accordingly is a must. Then there’s the visual side. You need a good eye and an understanding of what makes content work. You don't need to be a graphic designer, photographer or videographer, but you should be able to look at a piece of content and know when something feels right, and when it doesn’t. Some experience with Canva, basic design and short‑form video creation will definitely help.
We can teach you our systems and how we manage accounts and events. What’s much harder to teach is how to build genuine relationships with people, communicate with confidence, recognise a great sentence or spot a good idea. You’ll also need to be organised, curious, proactive and willing to get stuck in.
And yes, events occasionally happen outside 9-5. There will occasionally be some early mornings, evenings and weekends. We’ll always be upfront about that.
Good Day has been around since 2017.
We work with brands we genuinely like, across industries we find interesting, and we care a lot about the work we put into the world.
Because we’re a small agency, you won't spend your first year sitting quietly in the corner waiting for someone to give you something meaningful to do. You'll work directly with clients, have your own accounts, manage shoots, events and activations. You'll contribute ideas that will be brought to life and you'll get a heap of exposure to social media, content, events, PR and strategy pretty quickly.
There’s a lot to learn, but that’s kind of the point.
