Job summary

Skillfield is hiring a SOC Analyst L1 to join a major Australian telecommunications client’s 24/7 Security Operations Centre on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You’ll monitor, triage and respond to security events across enterprise environments, collaborate with cyber professionals and follow incident response playbooks to improve detection capabilities.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on security operations experience, knowledge of SIEM concepts, log analysis and alert triage, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a SOC Analyst (L1) or in a similar security monitoring role.
• Familiarity with SIEM concepts, log analysis and alert triage.
• Experience with Git or similar version control tools.
• Experience with ClickHouse and Palo Alto XSOAR is highly regarded.
• Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and alerts across enterprise environments, triaging and escalating in line with SOC procedures.
• Investigate and respond to detections, applying whitelisting and tuning changes where appropriate.
• Support log review and reporting activities.
• Maintain and follow version-controlled playbooks, scripts and detection content using Git.
• Work rotating shifts, including night shifts and overtime, to provide continuous SOC coverage.
• Escalate incidents to L2/L3 analysts and follow incident response and handover procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of detection logic and SOC processes.

This opportunity is to join one of our major telecommunications clients, supporting a large-scale Security Operations Centre responsible for protecting critical enterprise environments.

The Opportunity

Hybrid, rotating shift roster including nights and overtime

Must be an Australian Citizen. Candidate does not need to hold a current security clearance, but must be eligible to obtain one if required.
