Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) Supervisor for a site-based role in Karratha, WA. You will supervise contractor activities within an EPCM framework, ensuring adherence to specifications, schedules and budgets on a medium/large project.

You will coordinate with field engineers, foremen and crafts, enforcing Bechtel safety and quality standards while navigating multi-discipline interfaces and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 9-12 years of experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of structural, mechanical and piping operations.
• Familiar with Critical Risk Management.
• Knowledge of the WHS Act (2020) and Regulations (Mines) 2022.

Responsibilities

• Supervise contractor construction activities and ensure compliance with specifications, schedules and budgets.
• Monitor contractor schedules, resource charts, and material/equipment requirements.
• Review construction methods, manning charts, and equipment needs.
• Coordinate external interfaces to align with established schedules.
• Enforce field construction policies and procedures.
• Support Field Engineers, Foremen and Craft Professionals in interpreting documents.

Project Overview:

Bechtel has been engaged to provide EPCM services to replace three (3) existing bucketwheel reclaimers at Rio Tinto's Parker Point facility at Dampier in northwest Australia.

The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new bucketwheel reclaimers as well as design and construction of associated off-board scope, including earthworks, marine infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the installation and operation of the new reclaimers.

Job Summary:

An opportunity exists within the Bechtel project team for a Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) Supervisor. As SMP Supervisor, you will be assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity within an EPCM team where you will be responsible for supervising and directing operations within assigned discipline or area.

You will supervise works contractor activities and others, ensuring assigned construction operations and works contractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

This position is a Karratha site based role on a 2&1 FIFO Roster.

Major Responsibilities:

• Role supports mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders' involvement.
• Monitors contractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
• Reviews contractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
• Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
• Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
• Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 9-12 years of experience in similar role

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Detailed knowledge of structural, mechanical and piping operations
• Knowledge of the WHS Act (2020) and Regulations (Mines) 2022
• Familiar with Critical Risk Management
• Completed Mining Statutory Supervisor training
• Knowledge of multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
• Knowledge of Bechtel's Zero Incident Performance Philosophy.
• Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
• Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
• Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
• Knowledge of the use of contracts, and the works contractor's responsibilities contained in contract documents.
• Experience working with, supervising and administering works contractors in an EPCM environment.
