Job description

In collaboration with the Pre-Contracts Manager and Estimating Leads the SMP Estimator will be responsible for accurate bid preparation, presentation, and follow-up of Defence sector tenders for Duratec.

Be a part of our bidding team and work on tenders for major construction projects Australia wide.

Play a key role in developing innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions and approaches within the overall estimate as part of a large, supportive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare, present and deliver Defence tenders to $200mil.
  • Would suit someone with Fuel / water / Piping experience.
  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates, including cost escalation analysis.
  • Compile accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities.
  • Support the preparation and development of construction methodologies, programs, and submission documentation.
  • Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates.
  • Identify the need for additional information or clarification through RFIs to ensure complete tender documents.
  • Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness.
  • Review and validate subcontractor pricing across all service disciplines.
  • Deliver detailed tenders with traceability and provide support for pre-contracts and delivery.
  • Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships.
ABOUT YOU

Your ability to be adaptable and proactive will see that you succeed in this role. You will bring:

  • Experience in engineering and resource industries.
  • First principle experience with hydraulic / mechanical piping and equipment.
  • Prior experience in Defence sector, construction, process and non-process infrastructure, and water / wastewater treatment (good to have, not essential).
  • Financial and commercial acumen.
  • Request additional information via RFIs to complete tender documents.
  • Interpersonal skills, confident, professional and self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar equivalent.
