Job summary

Proteqt Talent Solutions is recruiting 3x Site Safety Advisors to support major automation projects across Melbourne's western suburbs. These site-based roles are on 24-month fixed-term contracts, with a Monday–Friday roster and occasional Saturday work as projects require.

You will provide practical WHS advice, conduct site inspections, review SWMS, support safety plans, and deliver inductions and toolbox talks while building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders on complex

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate IV WHS required.
• Site-based WHS or Safety Advisor experience in construction/engineering.
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and contractor safety requirements.
• Experience reviewing SWMS and conducting site inspections.
• Understanding of high-risk construction activities and electrical isolation is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence safety behaviours on site.
• Current Construction White Card and driver’s licence would be advantageous.

About the Organisation

Our client, working exclusively with proteqt Talent Solutions, is a global engineering and technology business specialising in warehouse automation, material handling and intelligent logistics solutions. The organisation designs, installs and commissions sophisticated automated systems, incorporating robotics, conveyor technology and complex industrial equipment for major distribution and logistics operations.

With a strong pipeline of projects and continued investment in automation technology, we are seeking 3x Site Safety Advisors to support major project delivery across Melbourne's western suburbs. These are site-based positions operating Monday to Friday, with a rostered Saturday approximately every four to five weeks.

About the Opportunities

These large-scale projects involve the installation and commissioning of sophisticated automated systems within complex industrial environments. As work progresses from construction and mechanical installation into equipment testing and commissioning, the safety team plays an important role in managing evolving risks across multiple work fronts.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, these are hands‑on operational roles focused on implementing safety practices, engaging with people onsite and ensuring works are undertaken safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical WHS advice and support to project managers, supervisors, engineers and subcontractors
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety observations, audits and risk assessments
• Review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), safe work procedures and contractor safety documentation
• Support the implementation of site safety management plans and compliance requirements
• Facilitate site inductions, pre‑start meetings and toolbox talks
• Identify hazards, investigate incidents and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented
• Monitor high‑risk work activities, including working at heights, lifting operations, electrical isolation and equipment commissioning
• Build strong working relationships with contractors and stakeholders, promoting accountability and a positive safety culture

About You

We are interested in speaking with safety professionals who enjoy being actively involved onsite, building relationships and influencing safe working behaviours.

You will bring:

• A minimum Certificate IV WHS
• Experience in a site‑based WHS or Safety Advisor position, ideally within construction, engineering, industrial installation or related project environments
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and contractor safety requirements
• Experience reviewing SWMS, conducting site inspections and managing incident reporting
• An understanding of high‑risk construction activities, electrical isolation and equipment commissioning would be highly regarded
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with contractors, address unsafe practices and influence positive outcomes
• A practical, collaborative approach, sound judgement and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
• A current Construction White Card and driver’s licence
