Job summary

Solvay is seeking a Site HSE Manager for our Hydrogen Peroxide manufacturing site in Australia. You will lead safety, health and environment operations, support the Production and Site Managers, and help maintain a safe, compliant Major Hazard Facility.

Key duties include safe plant management with the Production Manager, maintaining ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001, promoting site audits, and liaising with Safe Work NSW, EPA and NGERS.

Qualifications

• Relevant education degree in Process or Chemical Engineering, Safety or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of work experience in an operational safety role at a chemical or industrial site.
• Exposure to laboratory operations and people management is favourable.
• Safety leadership experience at a Major Hazard Facility.
• Experience liaising with Australian safety and environmental regulatory entities.

Responsibilities

• Safe management of the site’s hydrogen and hydrogen peroxide plant with the Production Manager.
• Maintain and improve safety systems and ISO accreditation.
• Promote and undertake site audits on Lifesaving rules.
• Liaise with local authorities including Safe Work NSW, EPA, NGERS, and AICIS.
• Drive continuous improvement and work to best practice.

About The Role

Our Hydrogen Peroxide manufacturing facility, composed of around 40 people, focuses on producing hydrogen (H2) and hydrogen peroxide (HP) in collaboration with the Maintenance, Purchasing, Logistics and Commercial teams.

As a Site HSE Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and compliant operations of the site in the areas of safety, health and environment as well as providing support to the Production Manager and Site Manager. You will get the opportunity to contribute to maintaining and improving the standards of a complex Major Hazard Facility (MHF) site. You will be accountable for:

• the safe management of the site’s hydrogen and hydrogen peroxide plant, alongside the Production Manager
• Maintaining and improving the safety systems
• Maintaining ISO accreditation (ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001)
• Promoting and undertaking site audits on the Solvay Lifesaving rules
• Liaising with local authorities including Safe Work NSW(Safe Work New South Wales ), EPA(Environmental Protection Authority ), NGERS(National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System ), AICIS(Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme ), and Continuous improvement and working to best practice

We offer a permanent contract based on onsite working mode.

About You

Relevant education degree or equivalent in Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety or similar qualification . Relevant at least 3 years of work experience in an operational safety role at a chemical or industrial site. Exposure to laboratory operations and people management is favourable

Competencies:

• Safety leadership experience in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 Major Hazard Facility (MHF).
• Experience reporting to and liaising with Australian Safety and Environmental regulatory entities.

About The Pay

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is AUD 101,520 - AUD 143,500 per year in Australia.

Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
