Job summary

BHP Group is seeking a Shunter for the WAIO rail operations in Port Hedland. The role involves safely moving trains and rollingstock, with a 2-week on/off roster fly-in/fly-out from Perth or residential rosters 6:6.

Ideal candidates are qualified shunters with heavy haul experience, able to obtain/maintain a Category 1 Rail Medical and committed to safety and teamwork in a dynamic yard environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate II in Shunting or equivalent is required.
• Must have heavy haul shunting experience.
• C Class Driver’s Licence or higher is required.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Couple and uncouple rollingstock and attach/detach ore cars.
• Direct and control movement of trains within yards.
• Conduct safety checks including brake tests and roll by inspections.
• Create shunting plans and operate radio protocols.
