Job summary

Thales Group in Australia seeks a Ship Manager to lead maintenance planning and execution for Royal Australian Navy vessels. You will ensure safe, on-time maintenance and manage engineering changes within Commonwealth requirements.

You will coordinate with customers, allocate resources, and drive urgent defect resolutions while upholding safety and quality standards. A defence clearance and Australian citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Engineering or Project Management.
• Demonstrated safety leadership at a complex industrial site.
• Experience in planning or execution of production work packages.
• Experience in Ship Building / Ship Repair or similar heavy engineering.
• Australian citizenship or clearable status to obtain Defence clearance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance management for the assigned ship, ensuring safety, schedule, and cost targets are met.
• Coordinate with customer representatives to ensure work packages achieve operational objectives.
• Plan ship maintenance with sufficient resources (labour, data, equipment, materials).
• Develop detailed work order and maintenance package schedules, identifying critical paths.
• Lead urgent defect rectification with customer alignment on scope and priorities.
