Job summary

ACCIONA seeks a Shift Team Leader for Project Kwinana Energy Recovery in Western Australia to manage a 24-hour shift operations roster, ensuring health, safety, environmental compliance and peak plant performance.

You will mentor the Operations team, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate maintenance with contract requirements to deliver reliable energy generation and high availability.

Qualifications

• Boiler and STG operating ticket required.
• 5+ thermal energy operations or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading operational teams.
• Strong to advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and monitoring of systems to maximise process efficiency and ensure health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24 hour shift system.
• Lead the Operations team and provide progression support to develop high performing teams with a culture of delivering outstanding performance and plant availability.
• Mentor and guide Operations personnel in performance management and ensure resources are adequate to carry out functions.
• Ensure site compliance with all contractual and performance obligations under the relevant contract(s).
• Support all Asset management and Maintenance activities to completion within agreed timeframes.
• Work with Shift Teams to develop strategic plans for Operations and implement strategies.

Project Kwinana Energy Recovery

Project Kwinana Energy Recovery is Australia’s first waste-to-energy facility, transforming waste into renewable energy while supporting the circular economy. Diverting up to 460,000 tonnes of waste annually from landfill, the facility will generate 38 megawatts of baseload power—enough for over 50,000 households—while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to removing 85,000 cars from Perth’s roads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead in the implementation and monitoring of systems and processes through good practice to maximise the process and ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24 hour shift system.
• Leading the Operations team and deploying progression support to develop high performing teams with a culture centred on delivering outstanding performance and plant availability.
• Providing mentoring and guidance to Operations personnel responsible for individual and team performance management and ensuring that the team has adequate resources to carry out its functions.
• Ensuring that each site complies with, and achieves, all the contractual and performance obligations under the relevant contract/s.
• Supporting all Asset management and Maintenance activities to completion within the required agreed timeframes.
• Working with Shift Team’s to develop strategic plans for Operations and implementing strategies as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Boiler and STG operating ticket
• Previous experience within the renewable energy or waste management sectors (Highly desirable)
• 5+ Thermal Energy Operations or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ leading operational team(s)
• Strong to Advanced excel skills
