Job summary

Gilbarco Veeder-Root AU is seeking an experienced hands-on Service Technician to service, repair and maintain specialised hydraulic and electronic components used in the retail fueling industry. You will be the face of GVR AU on customer sites around Newcastle, ensuring first-time fixes and proactive servicing with a strong safety mindset.

The role requires trade qualifications or equivalent, 1–3 years in a service environment, a valid driver’s license, and solid fault-finding and communication

Qualifications

• Secondary education or equivalent is required.
• Trade qualification in electrical or mechanical fitting is preferred.
• 1–3 years of service industry experience is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding ability and attention to detail.
• Good communication, planning and computer skills (MS 365).

Responsibilities

• Perform field service across Newcastle and nearby areas, including repairs and maintenance.
• Calibrate pumps and test to ensure compliance and reliability.
• Complete service documentation and safety records for each job.
• Maintain a strong safety mindset on customer sites and with colleagues.
• Communicate clearly with customers and site staff, demonstrating integrity.

Are you an experienced hands-on Service Technician looking for a role where safety, service, and technical skill matter? As the 'Face of GVR AU' based in Newcastle, you are accountable for pro-active servicing, first time fix and repairs across GVR and competitor products on customer sites. You will be responsible for servicing and maintaining specialised hydraulic and electronic components used in the retail fueling industry.

Responsibilities Of This Role

• Field Operations work: successfully completing a variety of product breakdown and repair jobs as well as any other associated service jobs/tasks across customer sites in Newcastle and surrounding areas.
• Calibration of pumps & testing: checking, troubleshooting and testing the pumps to ensure compliance.
• Field Operations job documentation: completion of all job associated documentation (service report, safety documents, etc).
• 100% commitment to safety: working safely on the customer site, acting as a representative of Gilbarco Veeder-Root to customers.
• Works with a safety mindset and acts with integrity; you’re consistently focused on keeping yourself and others safe, using sound judgement and operating with transparency and trust.

What You’ll Bring

• Secondary Education or equivalent (completion of Higher School education), Trade Qualification (electrician / fitter)
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in a service industry
• Valid Driver’s license
• Mechanically minded with developed fault finding skills
• Pro-active, process & detail oriented, communication skills
• Computer and microsoft 365 skills
• Solid prioritization, time & stakeholder management skills

Working Environments:

• Field-based role requiring travel to local and regional customer sites including service stations, truck stops, and commercial fueling locations, using a company-provided vehicle.
• A strong commitment to safety, including the use of PPE, the ability to work independently, and professional communication with customers and site staff are essential.
• Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
