Job summary

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a Senior Workplace Health and Safety Business Partner to lead WHS across the organisation and embed a proactive safety culture.

Reporting to the Manager People and Culture, you will drive injury management, governance and risk mitigation while partnering with depot and site leaders to ensure lawful, safe operations across regional Victoria. This is a senior role with strategic and hands-on responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline.
• Significant relevant experience in workplace health and safety leadership.
• Postgraduate qualifications and/or professional certification (e.g. CMiOSH, AIHS) desirable.
• Experience implementing safety management systems, governance and ISO 45001 alignment.
• Experience in Return to work / injury management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop staff within a WHS function.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across Health and Safety and Injury Management.
• Lead the development and maintenance of safety management systems and governance.
• Advise senior leaders on WHS policy, compliance and risk management.
• Coach and develop WHS staff and build capability across the organisation.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to improve WHS outcomes.
