Saab Australia seeks a Senior Verification Engineer to lead verification activities for the Collins Class Submarine ISCMMS. You will drive the Test & Evaluation program, ensure requirements are verified and validated, and coordinate with Systems Engineering and Program Leadership to achieve customer acceptance.

Qualifications

About The Role

Lead Verification Activities Supporting Australia's Sovereign Submarine Capability

We are seeking an experienced Senior Verification Engineer to join our Platform Automation Systems team, supporting the delivery of critical capabilities for the Collins Class Submarine Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System (ISCMMS). This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically strong Verification & Validation (V&V) professional to take ownership of complex test and evaluation activities across one of Australia's most important Defence programs. Working closely with Systems Engineering and Program Leadership teams, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the verification strategy that enables successful system acceptance by the customer.

The Opportunity

As the Senior Verification Engineer, you will lead the development and execution of the project's Test & Evaluation (T&E) program, ensuring requirements are effectively verified, validated, and transitioned through to customer acceptance. The role will see you driving verification activities across the entire system lifecycle, from strategy development and planning through to test execution, reporting, risk management, and formal customer acceptance activities. You will play a key role in ensuring technical compliance, maintaining verification artefacts, managing complex test programs, and providing leadership during formal test events and reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of verification activities for complex software and platform automation systems.
• Develop and maintain Verification Strategies, Verification Plans, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), Verification Reports, and Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs).
• Own and manage the project's Requirements Verification Matrix (RVM), test evidence, and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
• Develop detailed verification schedules and support the management of resources, equipment, and test environments.
• Lead formal test activities as Lead Tester or Test Director.
• Conduct technical risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution associated with verification activities.
• Support formal engineering reviews and audits, including Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).
• Assess, justify, and obtain acceptance of requirements compliance or deviations arising from the verification program.
• Work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to facilitate successful system acceptance outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced Verification or Test Engineer who thrives in highly complex, regulated Defence environments and enjoys seeing systems progress from design through to formal acceptance. You'll bring strong technical judgement, rigorous testing discipline, and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and customer representatives.

Essential Experience

• 8+ years' experience in software systems testing, verification, and validation.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing structured Verification & Validation programs.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering and requirements verification methodologies.
• Experience developing test procedures, verification plans, traceability matrices, and formal test reports.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within the maritime, naval, or submarine domain.
• Knowledge of Defence verification, acceptance, and assurance frameworks.
• Experience supporting complex control, monitoring, or automation systems.
