Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Melbourne seeks a Manager, Transactions to join Digital Legal Delivery at the intersection of law, technology and innovation. The role focuses on leading complex transactional work and developing legal engineering solutions.

You will oversee end-to-end transaction delivery, drive efficiency, and mentor junior members while expanding the firm’s digital capabilities and client offerings.

Qualifications

• Admission to practice in Australia or NZ.
• Minimum 5 years in transactional legal work.
• Experience with large, complex transactions.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end execution of complex transactions across M&A, real estate, finance, and commercial.
• Oversee due diligence, signing, closing, and post-completion activities.
• Design and implement legal engineering solutions, including automation and AI review.
• Develop templates, clause libraries, and playbooks for consistency.
• Apply legal project management to scope, plan, and budget matters.
• Provide progress reporting and risk insights to partners and stakeholders.
• Build client relationships and tailor delivery to commercial objectives.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices.
• Support business development for the Digital Legal Delivery practice.
