A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst for a client based in Sydney CBD. This role offers exposure to a Head of Tax and complex commercial matters, ideal for candidates looking to broaden their skills in tax and finance. A newly created opportunity has arisen with a large, complex Global industrial organisation with a strong foothold in the Australian market, seeking to strengthen its central tax and finance capability. Reporting directly to an experienced and highly regarded Head of Tax, this role has been designed as a true “right hand” position and will sit at the intersection of tax, accounting, valuation, and transaction support. The organisation have undergone significant growth through M&A activity, with this set to continue into 6 and beyond.
Importantly, this role is intentionally adaptable . The scope will be shaped around the strengths of you as the successful candidate, while also providing the opportunity to diversify into new areas of tax, projects, and commercial activity over time. It is an ideal platform for someone looking to move beyond a narrow tax remit and build a genuinely well-rounded skill set aligned with future Tax Manager or Head of Tax ambitions.
The role will be broadly split as follows :
Key focus areas include balance sheet and asset category analysis, valuations underpinning stamp duty modelling, and support across M&A, structuring, and project activity. While core tax compliance capability and knowledge is important, this is not a pure compliance role; commercial thinking, analytical strength, and the ability to support deal and project work are highly favoured.
Over time, the role can span multiple tax streams including compliance, advisory, legislative change implementation, and project / M&A-related work, depending on the candidate’s background and development goals.
