Job summary

The State Revenue Office in Melbourne CBD invites a Senior Tax Advisory professional to join the Tax Advisory and Review Branch. The role handles complex state tax objections and private rulings, reporting to the Team Leader, and supports revenue reform initiatives across all revenue lines.

The ideal candidate will excel in interpreting legislation, conducting legal research and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, with experience meeting quality targets in a legal/commercial setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying complex legislation, including undertaking legal research to produce written taxation decisions.
• High level communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Experience meeting quality and output targets in a complex legal/commercial environment.

Responsibilities

• Effectively managing a file portfolio of complex objections and/or private rulings across all revenue lines.
• Develop and mentor junior staff in preparing objection determinations and private ruling decisions across all revenue lines.
• Build stakeholder relationships with private and government stakeholders to deliver and implement revenue reform initiatives.
