Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a landmark project, so the advert should focus on the scale, technology, and career opportunity while clearly outlining the responsibilities.

At CPB Contractors, together with fellow CIMIC Group companies UGL and EIC, we're delivering the ground-up development of a major multi-megawatt data centre in Melbourne's western suburbs.

The 80MW facility will comprise two adjoining 40MW data centres featuring highly complex and integrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, ICT and security systems. The project also includes extensive external services infrastructure, modular electrical equipment installations, high-voltage works, civil construction and specialist facilities.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Surveyor to play a key role in the successful delivery of one of Victoria's most significant data centre developments.

The Opportunity

As Senior Project Surveyor, you will provide technical leadership across all project survey activities, ensuring survey services are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project requirements, statutory obligations and industry best practice.

Working closely with project delivery, digital engineering and construction teams, you will be responsible for survey governance, control networks, quality assurance, scanning technologies, drone operations and survey data management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and governance across all project survey activities.
  • Establish, maintain and verify survey control networks, gridlines, control points and critical project elements.
  • Coordinate cadastral requirements and engage Registered Land Surveyors as required.
  • Manage and audit subcontract survey activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and survey standards.
  • Conduct as-built surveys and quality assurance checks to verify installation accuracy and compliance with design tolerances.
  • Develop survey methodologies, work plans and risk assessments that support safe project delivery.
  • Undertake and manage drone survey operations in accordance with regulatory requirements and CPB operational procedures.
  • Capture and manage 360-degree imagery through DroneDeploy to support digital project records and progress monitoring.
  • Perform terrestrial laser scanning for existing conditions, conformance assessments and as-built verification.
  • Collaborate with Digital Engineering and project teams to support model validation, clash detection and as-built model development.
  • Manage survey data workflows through the 12D Synergy Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Maintain survey, scanning and drone equipment registers, ensuring calibration, servicing and compliance requirements are met.
  • Provide survey-related advice and support to project stakeholders, engineers and construction teams.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Surveyor or Project Surveyor position on large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial or data centre projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction set-out, survey control and as-built verification processes.
  • Experience managing subcontract survey resources and quality assurance activities.
  • Proven capability in terrestrial laser scanning and modern survey technologies.
  • Experience operating drone survey platforms and managing associated compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Digital Engineering and BIM-enabled construction workflows.
  • Experience using survey management and data platforms such as 12D and 12D Synergy.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Surveying or a related discipline.
