Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking a Surface Water Engineer with 8+ years’ experience to join our Surface Water and Flooding team in Australia. Based in Melbourne or Sydney, you’ll deliver surface water assessments, hydrology and hydraulics models, and stormwater designs across a broad portfolio.

You’ll lead multidisciplinary projects, prepare high-quality reports, and guide junior engineers while applying best-practice approaches to flood resilience and climate adaptation for infrastructure projects

Qualifications

Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; postgraduate studies in water resources welcomed.
8+ years’ experience in water resources or surface water engineering with proven delivery of high‑quality designs.
Strong background in stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulic modelling with listed tools.

Responsibilities

Deliver surface water assessments, hydrological and hydraulic models (1D/2D) and stormwater designs for projects across Australia and abroad.
Lead and manage multidisciplinary projects from early planning through detailed design with client engagement.
Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, environmental assessments and design packages for stormwater and water infrastructure.
Develop approaches in flood resilience, climate adaptation and sustainable water management.
Support and guide junior engineers within a collaborative, high-performing team.
