Job summary

GHD is seeking a skilled Surface Water Engineer to join our NSW/ACT team, with strong GoldSim knowledge and a passion for water resources. You will work across Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong or regional NSW offices on Mine Water Management and Water Balance Modelling projects.

In this role you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop water balance models, manage client relationships and contribute to project proposals while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Environmental/Water Resources Engineering or related field.
• 5–12 years of consulting experience in water engineering.
• Strong GoldSim knowledge and water balance modelling experience.
• Understanding mine water management practices and regulatory standards.
• Proven client relationship and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing and applying GoldSim water balance models for mine water management studies.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across mining, dams, tailings, hydrology and environment.
• Delivering projects while maintaining client relationships and coordinating stakeholders.
• Contributing to proposals, business development and growth of surface water capability.
• Mentoring junior staff and providing technical guidance.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a skilled Surface Water Engineer with a strong working knowledge of GoldSim and a passion for water resources to join our NSW/ACT team in Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong or any of our regional NSW offices.

You will collaborate with specialists across water, dams, tailings, mining, environmental and digital disciplines and make an impact on complex Mine Water Management and Water Balance Modelling projects across Australia.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Developing and applying GoldSim water balance models for mine water management studies, operational assessments and strategic water planning.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across mining, dams, tailings, hydrology and environmental services, analysing complex water systems and evaluating risks
• Delivering on multidisciplinary projects and tasks, maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver project outcomes
• Contributing to proposals, business development activities and the continued growth of GHD's surface water capability.
• Conducting technical reviews and mentoring junior staff, providing guidance and feedback to help them develop their skills

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline.
• Between 5 &12 years of experience in a similar role in a consulting environment.
• Experience in surface water engineering, mine water management or water resources consulting.
• Strong working knowledge of GoldSim, including development and application of water balance models.
• Understanding of mine water management practices, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Strong client relationship skills and project management skills in water resources projects
