Job summary

AECOM in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Structural/Maritime Engineer to support a growing pipeline of coastal, port and maritime projects across ANZ, delivering robust design, assessment and documentation with a focus on quality, safety and constructability.

You will work with experienced engineers, mentor early-career colleagues and contribute to multidisciplinary deliverables, ensuring designs meet Australian standards and project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in structural and/or maritime engineering.
• Proficient in design and analysis of marine structures and foundations, with familiarity in Australian standards and guidelines.
• Competent with structural analysis and design tools and in preparing calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on buildability and safety in design.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
• Chartered (CPEng) or progressing toward chartered status is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specific and moderate portions of broader engineering assignments under the guidance of senior technical leaders.
• Gather and correlate engineering data using established procedures, ensuring traceability and quality.
• Complete detailed and routine engineering calculations and relatively simple tests to support design development.
• Propose approaches to new problems by adapting standard procedures or methods developed on prior assignments.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in results, escalating risks and issues appropriately.
• Provide guidance and day‑to‑day support to entry‑level engineers and graduates.
• Work to agreed budgets and schedules with minimal supervision, prioritising tasks to meet milestones.
• Independently complete primary design elements for maritime and structural works (e.g., wharves, jetties, dolphins, seawalls, berths).
• Participate in interdisciplinary reviews to coordinate civil, structural, geotechnical, and M&E inputs.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort for defined scopes.
• Use your expertise across all steps to complete the discipline component of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) packages (or equivalent design packages).
• Perform quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings and reports.
• Prepare technical specification sections and contribute to design documentation aligned to relevant Australian standards.

Job Description

Due to client demand we are expanding our Ports & Marine capability and invite a Senior Structural / Maritime Engineer to join our Adelaide team. This role exists to support a growing pipeline of coastal, port and maritime projects across ANZ, delivering robust design, assessment and documentation with a focus on quality, safety and constructability.
