Job summary

The Northern Land Council is seeking a Senior Advisor in Darwin, NT to provide strategic governance advice and strengthen executive decision-making across the organisation. Reporting to the Director of Leadership, you will coordinate priorities, oversee resolution of high-profile complaints and help translate the NLC Strategic Plan into practical outcomes.

You will build relationships with Council Members, Traditional Owners and government partners, advise on complex matters and lead

Qualifications

  • Must have relevant degree-level qualifications in Public Policy, Governance, Business Management or a related field.
  • Significant experience providing high-level strategic advice in a government, statutory authority, Aboriginal organisation or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience managing complex complaints, governance matters and strategic projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading organisational improvement, governance, transformation or strategic performance initiatives.
  • Current NT driver’s licence and ability/willingness to undertake remote travel in a manual 4WD vehicle or light aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear advice on complex and sensitive governance matters and advise executive decision-making.
  • Coordinate strategic priorities across the organisation and oversee high-profile complaint resolutions.
  • Translate the NLC Strategic Plan into practical organisational outcomes with senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with Council Members, Traditional Owners, government agencies and internal teams.
