Job summary

KPMG Australia is seeking motivated people to join our State Taxes team in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth offices. You will work directly with clients on tax due diligence, structuring and advisory work, gaining exposure to high-profile transactions across industries.

You will develop strong technical skills in state taxes, stay updated on regulatory changes, and build lasting client relationships while delivering practical tax solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or equivalent. Recent M&A/ transactional experience advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Client-facing in a team environment and willingness to take responsibility.
• Keen attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Tax due diligence – assist in buy-side and sell-side processes with risk assessment.
• Structuring – advise on duty consequences of mergers, acquisitions, restructures and divestments.
• Post-deal implementation – identify duties and assist in lodgements, rulings and objections.
• Advisory – conduct tax research and advise on planning opportunities and risk management.
• Updates – stay up-to-date with state tax developments and regulatory changes.
