Job summary

Google is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to design, build, and operate large-scale, fault-tolerant systems in Sydney. You will focus on reliability, uptime, and performance while collaborating across teams.

You will mentor a distributed team, own end-to-end reliability for key services, and drive automation to reduce toil while supporting rapid growth and high release velocity. Strong coding and system design are essential for success.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
3 years of experience managing people or teams
3 years of experience leading projects
3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of SREs; drive performance evaluations and strategic hiring.
Own end-to-end reliability for F1 Query and CDQ services; manage Tier-1 on-call rotation.
Identify architectural bottlenecks and design resilient systems; scale infrastructure with automation.
Partner with core Query development teams and peer SRE groups; align roadmaps and reliability efforts.
Provide technical guidance via design reviews, and production training; steer capacity planning and performance tuning.
