Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support Council operations across commercial, planning, governance and litigation. You will work with senior leaders, external counsel and stakeholders to manage risk and deliver practical legal solutions.

Admitted to practice in New South Wales with a current practising certificate and at least five years' post-admission experience across multiple areas, you will excel in drafting, negotiation and advisory work with strong

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in New South Wales with a current practising certificate.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience across at least three areas including commercial, planning & environment, government, property, employment, WHS and/or litigation law.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience preparing court documentation and managing legal matters from inception to resolution.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will manage a broad caseload and provide high-quality legal services across Council operations. You will work closely with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, external legal providers and barristers to ensure legal risks are managed and organisational objectives are achieved.
