Job summary

PRCLS, part of Encircle Community Services Ltd, seeks an experienced Senior Solicitor to lead a legal team delivering quality community legal services across Moreton Bay and greater North Brisbane. You will ensure compliance with funding agreements and supervise junior solicitors.

Qualifications

• Current unsupervised QLS Practising Certificate.
• At least 5 years' experience as a Solicitor.
• Domestic and Family Violence Duty Lawyer Accreditation or willingness to undertake training.
• Qualified Mediator/Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner or willing to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, information and ongoing support to clients.
• Develop operational work plans for the team and provide mentoring and supervision.
• Review draft communications for solicitors and manage reporting requirements.
• Provide high quality, accurate and comprehensive community legal services in areas such as consumer, family and domestic violence law.
• Coordinate outreach and evening walk-in services when rostered.
• Travel between Encircle sites (Strathpine, Redcliffe, Caboolture) as needed.
• Build relationships and partnerships to provide referral pathways to other Encircle services.

PRCLS operates acrossmultiple locations in the Moreton Bay and greater North Brisbane area providingfree legaladvice,information,and referrals as well as community legal education for vulnerable people facing disadvantage. We alsosupport theDomestic and Family Violence Duty LawyerServices in the area.Over the years, we've attracted student and professional volunteers who work with us because they are passionate about building legal capacity and resilience in our most vulnerable community members.

About this Role

Working across the Moreton Bay Region,you will supporta team of solicitorsto providequality legal services to clients in line with funding agreements.

In conjunction with our Senior LeadershipTeam, the position will establish operational work plans and procedures which guideservice delivery,whilst providing supervisory support to the legal team. Your knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and experience will also enable you to foster and nurture relationships and partnerships.

To be successful in this role you will possess the ability to:

• Provide legal advice,information,and ongoing legal support services to clients.
• Participate in the development of operational work plansfor the teamand providementoring and supervision.
• Reviewdraft communicationsfor the team of solicitors andmanage thereporting requirementsfor the programs.
• Provide high quality, accurate and comprehensivecommunitylegal services, in areas of law impacting vulnerable community members such as: consumer law, family law, and domestic and family violence.
• If qualified as a mediator or Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, provide mediation and family dispute resolution services.
• Coordinate our popular evening walk-in services when rostered.
• Ability to travel and work between various Encircle sites including, Strathpine, Redcliffe and Caboolture.
• With a strong focus on collaboration, you will build relationships and strengthen networks as part of a multidisciplinary organisationtoprovide referral pathways for clientsto otherEncircle support services or tootheragencies within the region,where appropriate.

Requirements

• Domestic and Family Violence Duty Lawyer Accreditation or willing to undertake training.
• Qualified Mediator/Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner or willing to undertake training.

Key Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role - providing leadership, developing strong relationships with key stakeholders, mentoring staffand volunteers, and building a professional, collaborative, and supportive team culture.
• Demonstrated high degree of generalist community law knowledge and skills.
• Accreditation as a domestic and family violence duty lawyer or ability to apply successfully for accreditation within a maximum of 3 months from date of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to convey complex legal information in a manner appropriate to the client group.
• Demonstrated leading, supervising and contributing to an effective small team.
• Demonstrated understanding of Social Justice principles.
• Demonstrated understanding of contemporary challenges, needs, issues and sensibilities of all people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), LGBTIQA+ backgrounds and other vulnerable population groups and the application of Social Justice principles.
