About the Office of Digital Government

The Office of Digital Government (DGov) is leading the digital transformation of the WA public sector to support agencies in improving service delivery to the community. This includes providing more convenient access to government services online, while ensuring those who cannot or choose not to use digital services are not disadvantaged. Protecting personal information and government-held data is a critical component of our work.

About the Data Unit

The Data Unit is an interdisciplinary team focused on improving how the public sector uses evidence to make better decisions and policy. We work collaboratively with a broad range of agencies to address complex social, health, environmental and economic challenges facing Western Australia. Our work supports better strategy, operations and service delivery across government.

About the Role

Are you looking for a meaningful role that will use data to improve real world social outcomes?

We are delivering a major reform to improve how government shares information about family and domestic violence. Your work will help services respond faster, work together better, and keep victim-survivors’ safety and wellbeing at the centre.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Design and deliver a high quality and easy to use interface that front line workers will use daily,
  • Deploy a WA government first inter-agency identity matching system, and
  • Contribute to cloud platform development and security.

We are looking for people with experience in software development, data engineering or technology. You don’t need years of experience behind you, but you do need to be curious and adaptable, with technical foundations and the appetite to keep building and learning.

You will join a talented interdisciplinary team with data, technical and policy expertise that will support you to build your capability and succeed in the role.

In this role leadership is demonstrated through personal accountability, initiative and professional excellence. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute technical expertise, support a collaborative team environment, and work with stakeholders to deliver innovative, user-focused digital solutions that create value for government and the community.

If you want to contribute to work that has long-lasting impacts, then we want to hear from you!
