Job summary

KBR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Mission Integration team. The role is based in Canberra or Queensland and focuses on designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software for critical Defence capabilities in an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, PMs and specialists throughout the SDLC, drive technical excellence, and contribute to complex mission-critical systems while upholding KBR policies and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role.
• ASP.Net, C#, HTML, JavaScript.
• Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL including Stored Procedures.
• Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Unit Testing.
• Azure DevOps (ADO/TFS).
• Experience developing in Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Experience in a software environment using Microsoft stack.
• Experience developing applications for Defence networks.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing high-quality software in accordance with relevant standards and processes.
• Contributing to all agile software development sprint events.
• Assisting with task decomposition and the estimation of work.
• Assisting with system testing including performance and unit testing.
• Assisting with system documentation.
• Representing KBR in a professional manner and adhering to policies and security docs.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work closely with engineers, project managers and technical specialists throughout the software development lifecycle, playing a key role in designing, developing and implementing high-quality software solutions. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you will help deliver cutting-edge capability outcomes while driving continuous improvement and technical excellence across projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems that directly support Defence operations and future capability development.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role.

• ASP.Net, C#, HTML, JavaScript.

• Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL including Stored Procedures.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
