Yahoo are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Social Editor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the creation and strategic distribution of compelling content across our social media platforms. The ideal candidate is a socially-savvy storyteller with a deep understanding of the Australian entertainment landscape, as well as strong awareness of both local and global news trends.

Success in this role requires a proven ability to break stories, cultivate and engage digital communities, and create highly shareable content. A deep understanding of audience behaviour and platform-specific best practices is essential. You will be expected to innovate, tailor, and repurpose content effectively to meet audiences where they are and deliver measurable results.

This role is a 12-month full time contract position with the option to extend for the right candidate.

What will you be doing?

• Driving and amplifying our news and entertainment coverage: You will be on top of the daily trending news agenda and emerging themes and collaborate with the wider editorial team to amplify the reach of their written content on social platforms.
• Monitoring and improving our content offering across multiple platforms whilst developing a strong understanding of our audience and their preferences to drive user engagement and loyalty.
• Collaborating on series and franchises through regular communication with senior editorial leaders and key stakeholders to bring to life opportunities to amplify our content offering in key topic areas.
• Taking a hands-on approach to great storytelling, developing original ideas based on trends and topical issues and turning them into innovative formats that captivate our audience.
• Finding unique and engaging ways to tell stories on social platforms and collaborating on video formats which align with our audience's interests and goals.

What you will Bring?

• Strong experience working as a social producer in an editorial environment.
• Experience of producing and editing text, graphical and video content for social media including Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and TikTok.
• Experience distributing content across multiple social media platforms driving engagement and growing audiences.
• In-depth understanding of social media and the creation of shareable content
• High-level writing and communication skills
• A creative individual who can use editing styles and techniques to produce high-quality content specifically for social media.
• Excellent research skills with the ability to tap into developing trends and pitch unique ideas.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with different teams and stakeholders
