Job summary

Shift is seeking a Senior Front End Engineer in Sydney with a strong focus on React and TypeScript. You will collaborate with designers, PMs, and back-end engineers to create intuitive, high-quality experiences and have impact on how customers interact with Shift’s products.

You will contribute to front-end development while understanding back-end integration, APIs and microservices, and participate in shaping features through a user-centric approach.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of production frontend experience.
• Advanced skills in React and TypeScript.
• Back-end development experience in any language, with front-end back-end integration knowledge.
• Experience with APIs and microservices.
• Strong attention to detail and product instincts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Proactive, autonomous mindset with ownership.
• Ideally, Azure/DevOps or C#/.NET experience, though not required.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance high-quality, polished user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Optimize user flows with strong product and design thinking.
• Integrate with APIs and back-end services; contribute to back-end as needed.
• Collaborate with designers, PMs and engineers to deliver new features.
• Ensure reliability, maintainability, and scalability of platforms.
• Participate in code reviews, discussions, and architectural decisions.
• Advocate for code quality, testing, accessibility, and continuous improvement.
