Q-CTRL’s Quantum Sensing Research team seeks a researcher to develop next-generation quantum magnetometers and control schemes. You will design control methods and software layers for optically pumped magnetometers, applying advanced filtering to perform in noisy fielded environments.

You’ll work with the team to translate research into real-world sensors, publish findings, and contribute to software architecture and data analytics within a fast-moving, impact-focused environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience with high-precision magnetometry.
• Theory, numerical modelling, and/or optimisation of atomic spin ensembles or quantum sensing.
• Knowledge of Kalman and particle filtering, estimator theory.
• Experience in time and frequency DSP, adaptive filtering, and match filtering.

Responsabilités

• Develop quantum control algorithms to improve sensitivity and robustness of optically pumped magnetometers.
• Use Kalman and particle filters to improve sensitivity and reduce noise.
• Perform time series analysis and develop noise compensation techniques using DSP and ML.
• Write simulations of atomic systems to guide experiments.
• Develop, document, and review high quality software with Python.
• Collaborate with Quantum Sensing Team, Division, and broader company.
• Share insights through presentations, publications, and technical reports.
• Perform other duties within skills and experience or with training.
