Job summary

Queensland Police Service in Mt Isa seeks an experienced prosecutor to provide prosecution services across magistrates and circuit courts, including the Gulf Circuit. The role requires supervision of subordinate staff and delivers broad exposure to criminal matters.

You will coordinate briefs, liaise with police, legal professionals and government agencies, and lead in legal research, submissions and advice while ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Lead in the development and provision of quality legal research, argument, submissions, opinions and advice.
• Manage resources per Service policy to achieve efficient operations in the area of responsibility.
• Establish and model high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.
• May include coordination activities for Specialist Courts and diversionary initiatives as directed by the Superintendent.

Job description

Prosecution Services provides the prosecutorial function to members of the Service on matters before the Magistrates, Children's and Coroners Courts. This position requires supervision of subordinate staff. Mt Isa Police Prosecution Corps is a medium sized establishment with a satellite office in Normanton. Prosecutors are responsible for police related matters in Mt Isa Magistrates Court District in addition to servicing circuit courts of Birdsville, Boulia, Camooweal, Cloncurry, Dajarra, Julia Creek and the Gulf Circuit, prosecuting matters at Mornington Island, Normanton, Doomadgee and Burketown. This position offers a broad level of experience across all Magistrates Court criminal matters, providing a depth of skill and expertise in prosecuting, with the added dimension of circuit courts.

• Establish and model maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.
• May include coordination activities for Specialist Courts and diversionary initiatives a directed by the Superintendent.
