Senior Project Officer
  • Salary : $113,022 – $136,747 plus superannuation
  • Fixed Term to 30 June 2027
  • Usual hours of work : Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location : 33 Mackay Street, North Geelong (flexibility may be available)
The Role

As the Senior Project Officer, you will lead project teams responsible for planning and delivering complex, high-value and high-risk social infrastructure projects. You will draw on your experience in major infrastructure planning and delivery, strong judgement, analytical capability and negotiation skills to address complex and sensitive issues. The role requires high-level stakeholder engagement skills, including working effectively in First Peoples partnerships. Your core focus will be on the Revitalisation of Central Geelong and benefits realisation across current and future public and private investments, including the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre.

Main Accountabilities
  • Lead and manage significant social infrastructure projects.
  • Develop briefs and advice on highly complex issues to support senior decision-making.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to gain cooperation and meet project timelines.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning and provide advice on implementation issues.
  • Manage cross‑functional delivery and provide leadership in applying complex concepts to operational matters.
The Team

The position of Senior Project Officer forms a part of Priority Projects and Partnerships Branch within the Regional Development Victoria Group. Priority Projects and Partnerships is responsible for delivering major regional infrastructure projects, including the Revitalisation of Central Geelong, Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, and the Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment, while driving project management excellence across Regional Development Victoria.

We work with businesses, communities and across government to deliver economic growth, create jobs, build resilience and support economic recovery in our regions. We have a strong role in activating networks; building partnerships; realising outcomes that boost local economic and community resilience; and bringing the lived experience of communities into government decision making. In delivering our portfolio priorities, we work closely with parts of government given the many synergies and linkages with other priorities across government.

About You

You build collaborative environments and proactively remove barriers to knowledge sharing. You work effectively across teams to deliver outcomes and define governance arrangements that support successful project delivery. You understand stakeholder needs and organisational context, and you apply this insight to achieve outcomes in a complex regional infrastructure environment.
