Job summary

Austal in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage projects through the full lifecycle. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will guide teams, manage risk, budgets and schedules to deliver on client requirements with strong leadership and communication.

Ideal candidates have an engineering or fabrication trade qualification with 10 years’ experience, exposure to marine or heavy industry, and willingness to pursue a Project Management qualification.

Qualifications

• Engineering or fabrication trade qualification with 10 years' experience.
• Willingness to obtain a Project Management qualification.
• Experience in marine or heavy industrial environments is desirable.
• Commercial awareness across budgets, estimates and cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage project scope: risk, schedule, procurement, budget and resourcing.
• Ensure accurate task information for billing against projects.
• Maintain schedules and deliver to customer needs.
• Manage budgets to meet or exceed targets.
• Identify technical, safety or personnel risks and address them.
• Procure project labour per resourcing requirements.
• Build stakeholder and supplier relationships and maintain communication.
• Provide direction to project teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Provide advice to ensure accurate future costings and timelines.
• Prepare, submit and negotiate tenders and project variations.
• Lead project meetings and toolbox talks.
