Job summary

RPS, A Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large defence infrastructure and building construction projects in Australia. You will own project delivery, manage client relationships and supervise the line management team.

Office-based with regular travel to client sites and Garden Island; you will hold a tertiary qualification in project management or engineering, plus 10+ years of PM experience and strong leadership, contracts management, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• We require a tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, construction management or similar.
• Australian citizenship with Baseline Security Clearance or ability to obtain.
• 10+ years of project management experience.
• Recent experience delivering buildings/construction for Defence clients.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Proven contract administration and design management experience.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and communications skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office; MS Project is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of large infrastructure and building projects for Defence clients.
• Own project scope, schedule, budget and risk management.
• Manage client relationships and the project delivery line management team.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure contract compliance.
• Travel to site meetings and Defence project sites as required.

The RPS Project Management team in Perth currently consists of 50 staff and is continuing to grow. RPS is currently tracking a range of live opportunities in the defence sector. To support this, we are seeking qualified and experienced Senior Project Managers to join our team and contribute to the growth of our project management business.

About the Role

The Senior Project Manager role offers you leadership, ownership, scope, collaboration, autonomy, challenges, and management of delivering significant projects with valued clients. This role would suit an established project management professional wanting to take a key role in the delivery of infrastructure and building construction projects for Defence clients as well as being part of managing client relationships and the line management team.

While the role is office-based, regular short distance travel for client meetings and site-based activities is required.

About you

You will hold a tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, construction management or similar; and have:

• Australian citizenship and holding or successfully obtaining and retaining a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
• 10+ years project management experience
• Demonstrated recent project experience involving buildings and construction for Defence clients
• Demonstrated leadership skills including experience working within and managing teams.
• A strong understanding and proven experience in managing contracts, contract administration and design management.
• Very strong stakeholder management, communications and leadership skills.
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook with Microsoft Project desirable.
• AIPM Certified Practising Project Manager certification or equivalent would be viewed favourably
• The ability to work within a large team structure and providing leadership to more junior staff.
• Desire to work on major complex projects.
• Flexible to travel when required to site based meetings and activities for our clients on Garden Island.
