Job summary

Transgrid is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Infrastructure Delivery team for Lumea Projects. You will manage the project engineering function, overseeing up to 10 concurrent projects across Australia, coordinating technical, procurement, materials, construction, design, and start-up activities.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage RFIs, design coordination, IFC and as-built processes, and ensure timely project delivery within budgets and risk controls.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of substation or transmission line asset construction.
• Proven experience delivering large, complex infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent business acumen and ability to drive change.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior Project Engineers and promote continuous improvement.
• Manage technical RFI responses and develop project specifications.
• Coordinate design responses for construction and apply technical knowledge to resolve issues.
• Manage IFC designs, as-built drawings, project close-out and asset acceptance.
• Lead delivery of projects where a Project Manager is not assigned.
• Develop and maintain project programs, cost estimates and budgets; identify efficiencies.
• Influence Construction to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Manage external customer design interfaces and coordinate interface meetings.
• Provide expert technical advice and act as escalation point for Project Engineers.
• Ensure compliance with financial, audit and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Report monthly on schedule, budget and risk to the project team.

About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Delivery team, working on Lumea Projects. You'll manage the project engineering function within the project team, undertaking detailed engineering management and support to various project teams delivering projects across our prescribed and non-prescribed programs. You'll be part of a project team or teams up to 10 concurrently based on complexity managing technical, procurement, materials, construction, design coordination and start-up and close-out items, and managing your own projects where a Project Manager isn't required. Working closely with Construction, Lumea, Procurement, Engineering Design, Project Development and Asset Management teams, this role calls for a highly collaborative, influential and technically astute person to coordinate critical projects across Australia.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and mentoring junior Project Engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Managing technical RFI responses and being accountable for developing project specifications
• Coordinating design responses for construction and applying technical knowledge to resolve construction issues
• Managing IFC designs, as-built drawing processes and the project close-out and asset acceptance process
• Leading delivery of projects where a Project Manager is not assigned
• Developing and maintaining project programs, cost estimates and budgets, and identifying efficiencies
• Influencing the Construction team to ensure efficient project delivery
