Job description

We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world‑class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.

We are mobilising for a major iconic project in Perth that involves engineering design, earthworks, roadworks, buildings and services.

As Senior Project Engineer, your key goal is to bring construction engineering to life on site — coordinating technical functions across your disciplines to keep the project moving smoothly and ensure the team has the support they need to deliver outstanding results.

About the role
  • Lead with safety and integrity – champion a strong safety culture on site, ensuring every team member works in line with HSEQ standards and project management plans.
  • Drive performance and delivery – plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of construction to meet project goals safely, efficiently, and profitably.
  • Empower your team – allocate work, provide guidance, and support the professional growth of engineers and site staff through mentoring, coaching, and regular competency reviews.
  • Collaborate for quality and compliance – ensure all works, materials, and subcontractor activities meet client, contractual, and quality requirements while identifying and managing risks and opportunities.
  • Plan ahead and problem‑solve – develop short‑ and medium‑term programs, monitor productivity, and take proactive action to keep the project on track and performing at its best.
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or its equivalent.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Suite, Finance Systems, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Quality procedures, WHS, Environmental and HR/IR procedures.
  • Ability to produce Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and ITP’s for all trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare contractual claims and variations.
  • Detailed knowledge of head and subcontract agreements.
  • Ability to develop, implement and manage budgets and forecasts.
Benefits
  • Health & Wellbeing – discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, wellness discounts, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP).
  • Time for life / Work life balance – birthday leave, purchased leave program, paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements.
  • Financial wellbeing – competitive remuneration, annual performance bonuses, salary continuance insurance and employee share programme.
  • Career development – training, mentoring programmes, and leadership development programme.
Many of our projects are located in regional areas, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.

Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans. Our commitment to an equitable construction industry extends to an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and gives everyone the opportunity to grow and be equally valued.
