Job summary

Origin Energy is seeking a Senior Project Controls & Quality Lead to own controls and quality across major overhaul outages, with 20–40% site travel. You will set standards for planning, cost control and safe delivery, reporting to the Major Overhaul Manager and Steering Committee.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree, postgraduate certification (PMP/Six Sigma), and strong ERP/SAP experience, with autonomous leadership and a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading project controls and quality across outages in power generation or heavy industry.
• Degree in Engineering, Project Management or related field; postgraduate PMP or Six Sigma is highly regarded.
• Strong MS Office skills; advanced MS Project; experience with SAP/S4HANA for cost control and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Own master scope, schedules and baselines across concurrent overhauls, balancing cost, schedule and quality.
• Track performance using Earned Value Management; present insights to Steering Committee.
• Govern the overhaul budget with forecasting, month-end actualisation and cost variances; ensure data integrity in SAP/S4HANA.
• Lead procurement and contract governance, approve timesheets and invoices within delegated authority.
• Set and lead the quality strategy across inspections, audits, non-conformances and regulatory compliance.

About the role:

Ready to run the show when the lights are on the line? Origin is looking for a Senior Project Controls & Quality Lead to own project controls and quality across our Major Overhaul Program, steering multiple concurrent outages across a diverse fleet of generation assets. With real autonomy, a seat at the SteerCo table and a direct line to the Major Overhaul Manager, you'll set the standard for how we plan, control and deliver safe, cost-effective, high-quality overhauls. Expect around 20–40% site travel.

Why this role matters?

• Own the master scope, schedules and baselines across concurrent overhauls, balancing cost, schedule and quality
• Track performance using Earned Value Management, and present S-curves, insights and recommendations to the Major Overhaul Manager and Steering Committee
• Govern the program’s overhaul budget, including forecasting, month-end actualisation and cost variances, with data integrity across SAP and Clarity
• Lead procurement and contract governance, approving contractor works, timesheets and invoices, and resolving commercial issues within your delegated authority
• Set and lead the quality strategy, including inspections, audits, non-conformances and regulatory compliance across every project phase

What will you bring?

• Extensive experience in leading project controls and quality management in power generation or heavy industry, across multiple outages or shutdowns
• A degree in Engineering, Project Management or a related field; a postgraduate qualification, PMP or Six Sigma is highly regarded
• Advanced Microsoft Project and Office skills, plus hands-on SAP ERP / S4HANA experience (work management, cost control, PR/PO, SES/GR)
• A solid grounding in scheduling methodologies, EVM, cost forecasting, shutdown planning, contracts and procurement
• The confidence to work autonomously under pressure and influence senior stakeholders, backed by a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
