Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts – Canberra ACT invites applications for APS6 – Senior Program Officers, Land Transport Infrastructure Division, Aff´firmative Measures, First Nations. The role supports national infrastructure programs and embeds First Nations perspectives in policy and delivery.

The position offers hybrid working arrangements, a salary between $99,733 and $118,084 per year, and opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• Inherent requirements include high‑level analytical capability to critically review complex technical documentation, financial/cost estimations, or project validation frameworks.
• Proven high‑level written communication skills with a track record of producing accurate, well‑structured advice for senior executives.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation capabilities to liaise with state jurisdictions, external partners, and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the management of financials, risk and delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects across a state or territory.
• Provide advice on government investments, coordinate governance and reporting for the Infrastructure Investment pipeline.
• Embed First Nations perspectives into infrastructure policy, program delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide briefings for Ministers, Executive and Central agencies, including Senate Estimates and Question on Notice.
• Assist with development and governance of programmes across multiple branches.
