Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel is partnering with a global renewable energy leader to hire a PPA Manager / Senior PPA Manager in Sydney.

You will lead origination, negotiations, and market analysis for corporate and utility-scale PPAs, coordinating with legal, finance, project development and risk teams.

The role requires 5-10 years in renewables and a strong commercial mindset, with MBA or related postgraduate qualification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in renewable energy.
• 3-4 years of experience originating, negotiating, or managing PPAs.
• Experience with solar, wind, battery storage, or hybrid projects.

Responsibilities

• PPA origination and business development with corporate and utility-scale buyers.
• Lead end-to-end negotiations of Power Purchase Agreements and related contracts.
• Conduct market pricing analyses, revenue forecasting, and risk evaluation.
• Collaborate with project development, finance, legal, and risk teams.
• Oversee lifecycle management and ensure contract obligations and milestones are met.

Opportunity to join a global leading renewable energy investment and development company, as PPA Manager / Senior PPA Manager.

The ideal candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, deep understanding of electricity markets, renewable energy regulations, risk management principles, and contract negotiation expertise.

Key Responsibilities

PPA Origination & Business Development

• Identify and develop opportunities for corporate, utility-scale PPAs.
• Build and maintain relationships with energy buyers, utilities, large commercial and industrial customers, and market participants.
• Support renewable project development by securing long-term offtake arrangements.
• Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks, and regulatory developments impacting PPA structures.

Commercial Negotiations

• Lead end-to-end negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and related commercial contracts.
• Structure innovative and competitive PPA solutions aligned with project and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with legal, finance, project development, and risk management teams during contract negotiations.
• Ensure commercial terms optimize project value while managing market and credit risks.

Market & Financial Analysis

• Conduct PPA pricing analysis, market assessments, and revenue forecasting.
• Evaluate merchant exposure, contract risks, and hedging strategies.
• Support financial modeling and project valuation activities.
• Analyze electricity market fundamentals and renewable energy certificate/attribute markets where applicable.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with project development, project finance, legal, and external advisors.
• Present commercial recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
• Oversee execution and ongoing management of PPAs throughout their lifecycle.
• Monitor contractual obligations, performance requirements, and compliance milestones.
• Resolve commercial disputes and contract-related issues as required.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.

Required Experience

• 5-10 years of experience within the renewable energy industry.
• 3-4 years of direct experience originating, negotiating, or managing PPAs.
• Proven track record of executing renewable energy offtake agreements.
• Experience with solar, wind, battery energy storage, or hybrid renewable projects.
